NEW FALL CLASSES SCHEDULED!!
About Expressive Painting in Glass with Tim Carey
This workshop is being offered in partnership with Vitreonics.
This hybrid workshop offers you the option to go all remote or the option for remote with the in-studio experience.
- Tim Carey teaches all new techniques while creating an abstract landscape
- Beginners and Experienced Glass fusers alike will learn how to create painterly effects using pre-made material, sheet glass, and frit…no sliders!
- From magic to madness…Tim and Vitreonics show you the ENTIRE process.
The goal with this class is to create an experience for the viewer that revolves around the question: “What does it truly take to create something beautiful and unique?” We pull back the veil and expose the reality that creating is not just about technique and execution. It’s messy. It’s about dreaming, aspiring, and doing what it takes to meet your goal; pushing through obstacles and forging ahead, even when you don’t know where you’re going.
With that in mind, this is still a class, and there will be a tremendous amount of educational content, both in the video and in print. Step-by-step, Tim will walk students through all of the processes he uses to create painterly effects.
Students will learn how to create an expressive painting with fused glass. Tim will be teaching his artistic process as he creates a real commission piece for a client’s outdoor garden. Students will learn as he makes his 4’x7’ piece, and he’ll also walk you through a 10” x 10” section in a very detailed way. Students are encouraged to follow along as loosely or as exacting as they desire.
Tim will use a different approach to create his piece. He will make pre-made material, that will be thin and easy to manipulate. Teaching what he calls “alla-prima painting in glass” or how to work “all at once” to manipulate pre-made material, sheet glass and frit to create painterly strokes. This is an approachable technique which will attract a broader audience from experienced fusers to new artists and beginner glass fusers.
What is included:
